Announcing Doc Toolkit, a set of e-text conversion tools for Palm
Computing platform users. Doc Toolkit converts HTML and plain text
into the de facto standard "Doc" format, which is supported by the
majority of e-text readers available for the Palm Computing platform.
Doc Toolkit is free software, available for use under the GNU Library
General Public License, v2. Doc Toolkit currently runs on Linux and
other Unix-like platforms.

Doc Toolkit includes a number of advanced features, including:

  - input from FTP and WWW, as well as local files; gzip support
  - installation of documents directly to a connected organizer
  - category, type, creator, and backup bit selection
  - direct bookmarking (no auto-scan required)
  - automatic bookmarking of named HTML anchors
  - HTML headers and horizontal rules as TealDoc tags
  - HTML entity support, ISO plus additional characters
  - embedded bookmarks, headers, etc. in "tagged text" files
  - auto-wrap of TealDoc headers according to actual font metrics

Release 1.1.0 is the beginning of a new development cycle. With this
release, Doc Toolkit now uses the Pyrite/Sulfur plug-in system for
more modularity. This release of Doc Toolkit requires Pyrite 0.7.1 or
newer, and Python 1.5.1 or newer.

The latest release of Doc Toolkit can be downloaded from the URL
above. Debian GNU/Linux (i386 and source) packages are available.
